CHRIS SHERMER

Fonk

CHRIS SHERMER

The music of Chris Shermer & The Fonk is melodic without baby baby schmalz, dirty without being sloppy, the music and lyrics dig deep but stay light and groovy. The songs tell stories. Acoustic sound with punch! For his songs the songwriter Chris Schermer uses influences ranging from folk to funk, alternative rock, reggae, blues and even hip hop. Very notable is Chris Schermer's special style of acoustic guitar playing - sometimes sounding like 2 guys at once. His singing is full of variety with elements of expression changing with every song.

PETER MAYR PROJECT

Colors of Music

PETER MAYR PROJECT

The Peter Mayer Project established itself in 1984 as a group of studio musicians, who knew each other from working together with a changing line up on a number of live performances and studio recordings. Since this time they have frequently worked together, producing high quality studio records.

Since 2008 the band has been playing live in clubs for a small, but fine audience of music-lovers. Most of their performances took place in Spain- in Tarragona, Valencia and Barcelona. The PMP plays mostly instrumental music - World-Music in the form of movie soundtracks with elements of Jazz-, Pop- and Rock.

"Colors of Music" is their current tour and is a journey through the various styles of music, however, their music always has impressionistic sound patterns that descibe musical landscapes in a modern form of classical program music.

Peter Mayr is a an internationally contracted studio musician, who used to play with stars like John Medeski, Al Kooper (Blood Sweat and Tears), Mick Taylor (Rolling Stones), Vinny Appice (drummer of Black Sabbath), Carles Benavent (bass of Paco de Lucia and Chick Corea), Ian Paice (drummer of Deep Purple) or The Blues Brothers.

TOBACCO ROAD BLUES BAND

TOBACCO ROAD BLUES BAND

The legendary Blues guitarist and vocalist Johnny Winter, who died last year, was quoted as saying "I think the Blues will always be around. People need it." With their "Tobacco Road Blues Band" four well known Carinthian musicians want "to keep the Blues alive"!

The "Tobacco Road Blues Band" was founded by the Carinthian producer and guitarist Peter Prammerdorfer and by Mike Diwald, who is better known as the host of "Morgenshow" (Morning Show) by Radio Kärnten. The "Tobacco Road Blues Band" was quickly completed with the introduction of drummer Bernd Bechtloff and bassist Wolfgang Reichmann.

They do not want to be seen as mainstream. They of course play traditional Blues, but with their own interpretation, by adding their own arrangements. They sample music by Gary Moore, J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton, as well as from less well known performers. Or does anybody still know the "Nashville Teens"?

SABINE NEIBERSCH

Musical Unplugged

Sabine Neibersch

Singing on the most European stages Sabine Neibersch, Carinthia's most popular musical star, knows what pathos is like. In her new programme "Musical Unplugged" she undresses various musical hits, removes pomp and glamour, and lo and behold, true peaces of jewellery appear!

Congested hits like "Gimme Gimme" are transformed into electrifying sound experiences. Many well-known Musical pieces as well as some less familiar ones are minimalistically reduced and these arrangements produce an exciting new level of intensity. These minimal arrangements were written by three exceptional Carinthian musicians:

For a number of years Peter Prammerdorfer, guitar player and music producer, has been performing together with Sabine Neibersch. With nothing else, but a single acoustic guitar, he interprets very different Musical styles and sounds.

Stefan Gfrerer is said to be THE Carinthian double bass player. He knows about the difficult possibilities of his instrument and gives solid Jazz flair to their Musical songs.

As Hubert von Goisern's percussionist Bernd Bechtloff was present on many of the great European stages, too. Although he is well known as a versatile percussion artist, with the "Musical Unplugged"-project he limits himself to a single instrument, the Udu, a North African clay jug, which gives their quartet a completely unique sound.
